Full-time Polish-taught programmes at public universities are free for EU/EEA and Swiss citizens, while English-taught ones usually cost €2,000–6,000 a year. Poland has 344 higher education institutions, and full-time non-EU/EEA students with a student visa or temporary residence permit can work without a permit. Find out how admission works and what a student typically spends a month (PLN 1,500–2,000).
Most programmes are taught in Polish. If you want to study in Polish, the university will ask you to prove your language skills – for example with a state certificate in Polish as a foreign language (certyfikatpolski.pl) or by completing a preparatory course. The required level is in the admission rules.
The number of programmes taught in English is growing – you can find them in NAWA's Study Finder. For these, universities usually ask for proof of English, e.g. IELTS or TOEFL; the required level is in the admission rules.
Remember that programmes taught in a foreign language usually charge tuition, also at public universities and also for EU citizens (see: Tuition fees).
