At public universities EU/EEA students pay €178 a year for a licence and €255 for a master's, while non-EU students pay €2,902 and €3,950 – plus the €105 CVEC (2026/27). Campus France counts more than 3,500 higher education institutions, and since 4 May 2026 a meal in a CROUS canteen costs €1 for all students. What you can apply for:

bourse sur critères sociaux – the state means-tested grant awarded by CROUS. EU citizens can get it if they have worked in France (full-time or part-time) or if one of their parents has income in France. For 2026/27 the application (Dossier social étudiant) was open from 1 March to 31 May 2026,
Erasmus+ – a semester or year in France as part of an exchange with your home university,
France Excellence Eiffel – a government programme for master's and doctoral students from abroad; the French institution nominates the candidate (by 8 January in the 2026 call), and the age limit is 29 for a master's and 35 for a doctorate,
Erasmus Mundus – joint master's programmes run by several universities, with a chance of a scholarship for the whole programme,
scholarships from regions, institutions and foundations – search for them in the Campus Bourses database.
