Pioneering Painters: The Glasgow Boys 1880-1900
Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum hosts a major retrospective of The Glasgow Boys group. Featuring over 100 paintings, this exhibition celebrates the acclaimed young painters working in the city at the end of the 19th century.
The Glasgow Boys were a loosely bound group of artists, influenced by
the Realism of French painter Le Bastien-Lepage and the artistic
theories of their hero James McNeill Whistler. Their progressive work
was revolutionary for its time and has subsequently been widely
acclaimed at home and abroad.
This exhibition draws on public and
private collections from across the country, and features the works of E
A Hornel, James Guthrie, John Lavery, Arthur Melville and many more.
