Befana Benefica

Motorcyclists throughout Italy converge on Milan for the annual Befana Benefica, a two-wheel charity procession spearheaded by the toothless old witch herself. Food and gifts are handed out to kids and poor people in a heart-warming feast of generosity.

The procession, organised for the first time in 1967 by the Moto Club Ticinese, begins in Piazza Duomo and divides in two after receiving the blessings of the Bishop of Milan and hearing the speech of the mayor. Each half heads for different old people's homes and charity shelters nearby.
