La Ciaspolada
Taking its name from the ciaspole (snowshoes) worn by participants, La Ciaspolada is a sporting event where competitors battle it out on the snow of the Non Valley. The race's popularity means it draws competitors from America, Eastern Europe and Africa.
Ranging from professional athletes to families with children and
grannies, most participants cover the distance at a leisurely pace while
enjoying the scenery. The snowshoes are produced by local artisans, who
work overtime to finish all the new pairs that they have to provide for
the event.
