Candlemas Day Procession
Join Marseille's Candlemass Day Procession, a tradition that dates back to the 13th century. The Black Virgin of Saint-Victor Abbey is taken out of the crypt for the celebration, and afterwards the archbishop blesses the city and the sea.
Crowds follow the procession from the abbey then head to the
neighbouring Four des navettes, Marseille's oldest bakery which
manufactures the famous navettes, boat-shaped biscuits traditionally eaten during the day. Be prepared to queue up if you want to sample the delicacy!
