French Language Week
The annual week dedicated to the French language is celebrated in France and French-speaking areas from Québec to Brussels and Geneva. Francophones are invited to take part in a very special competition.
Each year, ten words are selected. With this limited but inspirational
vocabulary, schoolchildren, students and cultural bodies worldwide are
invited to write poetry, present exhibitions and demonstrate the wealth
of the French language. The idea is based on the work of Raymond
Queneau, a French linguist. Is your French a bit rusty? Look them up in
your old school dictionary!
