Spring Dippemess Fair
Join half a million fellow revellers on the Festplatz am Ratsweg for Frankfurt's Frühlings Dippemess (Spring Dippe Fair), the first open-air fair after the end of winter. Highlights are the huge fireworks displays which open and close the event.
Frankfurt's Spring Dippe Fair has developed from a market of household crafts which first took place in the 14th century (Dippe
is dialect for pots). Today it is one of the most popular funfairs in
the country, attracting 500,000 visitors (without having abandoned the
traditional trade in pots and pans).
Try one of the numerous
carousels, the rollercoaster, or, if you prefer, stick to the regional
wine and food - Frankfurt boasts an unusual speciality in its apple
wine, served in rustic earthenware jugs.
