Opera Holland Park
An annual summer fixture since 1989, Opera Holland Park performs fully staged opera under Holland Park Theatre's spectacular canopy. The all-new productions in 2011 comprise Don Pasquale, L'amico Fritz, Le nozze di Figaro, La rondine, Rigoletto and La Wally.
Two new operas to Holland Park bookend the season: Donizetti's frothy Don Pasquale (eight performances, 7-24 June) and a real rarity Catalani's La Wally, with its famous aria used in the cult film Diva (five performances, 29 July-12 August).
Another rarity, Mascagni's L'amico Fritz
(six performances, 10-25 June) heralds a trio of operas that illustrate
the many sides of love and attraction, from Mozart's
upstairs-downstairs tale of Le nozze di Figaro (eight performances, 2-16 July), via Puccini's La Rondine (seven performances, 5-17 July) to Verdi's tragic Rigoletto (nine performances, 26 July-13 August).
