International Berlin Beer Festival
Whether Berliners simply can't wait for the Oktoberfest or just need to see all 1600 metres of the world's longest beer garden, the International Berlin Beer Festival attracts around a million visitors every year to the Karl Marx Allee.
The first weekend in August transforms the street with over a mile of
stalls offering beer from brewers across Germany. Stages with live music
and shows provide entertainment between pints.
The Germans take the beer itself just as seriously as the ensuing revelry, and the festival showcases the Privatbrauereien (small independent breweries) which have long given German brewing a distinctive profile.
Breweries from all over Germany set out their stalls, along with a number from Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium and the UK.
