Edinburgh Mela
Mela, from Sanskrit, is an Asian subcontinent community festival. Edinburgh's ethnic communities have followed suit since 1995 and celebrate Scottish diversity with their own Edinburgh Mela. It is now held on Leith Links.
The Edinburgh Mela is Scotland's largest celebration of cultural
diversity through arts and culture. Join the fun in a programme packed
with dance, music, theatre, circus, crafts, fashion and, of course,
fantastic food. Cultures represented in 2011 include Polish, Nepalese,
Pakistani, Indian, Rajasthani, Chinese, Bengali and, of course,
Scottish.
