Catalonia International Film Festival
Every year Sitges hosts the Catalonia International Film Festival, showing a wide range of films from around the world. These include both releases from the previous year and old classics, with the best entries receiving awards.
The festival started out in 1968, specialising in fantasy and horror
cinema. It has since grown to be the most important international film
event in Catalonia, incorporating a range of genres such as animation,
retrospectives and alternative cinema. It presents several awards,
including the Méliès d'Or for the best fantasy film.
