Fiestas del Pilar
During the Fiestas del Pilar, the people of Aragon pay homage to the Virgen del Pilar. The best place to get involved with the region's most important celebration is Zaragoza, where the streets and parks buzz with festive activity.
On 12 October, the day of the Virgen del Pilar, thousands of
locals dressed in regional costume offer flowers to the Virgin. In the
evening, a spectacular religious procession, known as the Rosario de
Cristal, winds its way through the city's streets and during the early
hours of 13 October, locals offer fruit to the Virgin.
Festival
fever spreads to all corners of the city. Browse the huge Aragonese
market in the Plaza de los Sitios, selling local food and handicrafts.
In the evening, cherry-pick between concerts, street theatre and
fireworks.
