Chestnut Festival

Corsica's Chestnut Festival (Fiera dia Castagna), held each year in Bocognano, draws crowds of up to 30,000. Its official aim is the promotion and development of local agriculture but, in practice, it's all about sampling chestnut biscuits, jam and sweets.

Based around the seasonal chestnut, the Chestnut Festival highlights a revival in Corsican nut production alongside developments in rural food production. The major event is a competition to judge the year's finest chestnut flour. While this may not be of massive interest to visitors, the sampling of cakes and desserts made from the flour might prove more of a draw.
