Public funded research and development (R&D) has a key role in the development of new medicines. Worldwide approximately 50% of R&D is financed by public funds. The model "equitable licensing" was developed to increase access to medicines for poor people in developing countries. The conference will connect decision makers from research, politics and civil society to discuss how to proceed with innovative medical research, relevant to address issues of global health.
