Study systems in Europe

Studies follow the Bologna system:

• bachelor – 6 semesters,
• master – usually 4 semesters, i.e. 120 ECTS; Uni.lu offers almost 50 master's programmes,
• doctorate – with a strong focus on research and international cooperation.

Outside the universities you can earn a BTS (brevet de technicien supérieur) – 2–3 years of professional training at public secondary schools, e.g. in animation, construction, healthcare and management.

The academic year at Uni.lu starts in mid-September. Many programmes are bilingual or trilingual (French, German, English), and some are taught entirely in English.
