Tuition fees in Europe

Programmes taught in Czech at public and state universities are free – whatever your nationality. You only pay the application fee and your living costs.

You will have to pay if you:

• take longer than the standard length of study – at Charles University you get one extra year free (e.g. 6+1 years for medicine); after that you pay,
• study in a foreign language – programmes in English (or German, French or Russian) usually charge tuition. At Charles University fees range from €40 to €30,620 a year, depending on the programme,
• choose a private institution – it sets its own fees.

The rules are the same for EU and non-EU students. You will find the fee for a specific programme in the university's catalogue or in the Study in Czechia search engine (“tuition fees” filter).
